The Christian* Justice Fellowship is an affinity group created by graduate students in the Divinity School who identify as Christian, Christian-ish, or Christian-adjacent and who are interested in conversation, projects, and action that works toward justice and dismantling Christian hegemony and supremacy. We are a gathering space at the Divinity School for a variety of activities depending on members’ interests and talents, including (but not limited to) public scholarship and events, direct action and organizing, and inclusive Bible study where we rethink our assumptions and inherited beliefs about the text. Our asterisk acknowledges that many of us are in different places with our Christian formation, and we welcome potential members who are both loosely or firmly identified with Christianity (or who are unsure). We aim to be allies and in solidarity with faith traditions outside of Christianity and we are an LGBTQIA+ affirming group.

Our group, UChicago Jews for a Free Palestine, was founded in October 2023 by a group of Jewish students at the University, including a large number of students from the Divinity School. We wanted a space to imagine, debate, and create a shared sense of Jewish community and politics that did not take Zionism as its starting point. We hope to express the real diversity of Jewish thought and public opinion, rather than being an organization that presumed Jews everywhere felt identically about both past and present issues facing our community.

Our purpose today is multifold: we want to hold open a social and intellectual space for anti-Zionist Jews and allies on campus, and also to provide a space for Jews and others on campus to learn about and connect with these diverse traditions.

The Divinity School Women’s Caucus has its roots in the lively associations of women scholars who have shaped the culture of Swift Hall from the turn of the twentieth century to today. The Women’s Caucus seeks to foster community among the women of the Divinity School. We host social events and conversations with fellow students and faculty about life in the Divinity School each quarter. We eagerly welcome the participation of all members of the Divinity School who relate to the world as women. Follow @women_uchicagodivinity on Instagram or join our listserv for information about upcoming events.
