Reading Group Grant
The reading group grant funds the purchase of books for informal, student-led discussions. This grant is meant for groups independent of official funding channels such as established clubs and affinity groups. Individuals may request no more than one reading group grant per academic year.
Grant
Reading groups can request up to $300 and may use some of the funds for catering at book discussion meetings. After the application is approved, one student should purchase all books for the group and apply for reimbursement.
Eligibility
Main applicant must be a University of Chicago student
Reading groups must have at least 5 student participants at the time of application
The reading group must be open to all students and must be publicized on official Divinity School channels, including but not limited to the dsa listserv
Application must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the announcement of the reading group.
Application Prioritization
Priority will be given to groups who choose books that relate to some aspect of Divinity School life: the study and/or practice of religion, professionalization, university culture, etc. Groups may also choose to read fiction or poetry. All groups will be asked to elaborate on how the chosen book/group will enrich student life at the Divinity School.
